datacontrolobject.Server = string

This feature will be removed in a future version of Windows. Avoid using this feature in new development work, and plan to modify applications that currently use this feature. Applications that use RDS should migrate to WCF Data Service.

The Server property is deprecated in ADO.

Sets or returns the server protocol which can be an HTTP URL, an HTTPS URL, the machine name, or the empty string "" to signify local in-process use.

The Server property gives the Web server location where the queries and updates for the DataControl object are processed. This can be the HTTP or HTTPS URL, the name of the machine (computer) for DCOM, or the empty string "" which signifies local in-process.

You must use the Connect property to designate the server where your data source is stored.

You can create a form on a Web page to input values for the various DataControl properties and use Request.Form( ) to assign the values.

objDC.ExecuteOptions = Request.Form("ExecuteOptions")
objDC.FetchOptions = Request.Form("FetchOptions")
objDC.InternetTimeout = Request.Form("InternetTimeout")
objDC.Server = Request.Form("Server.Value")
objDC.SourceRecordset = Request.Form("SourceRecordset")
objDC.SQL = Request.Form("SQL")
objDC.URL = Request.Form("URL")
objDC.Connect = Request.Form("Connect")
